Refill. Reduce. Reuse.
About Taylor Made Refills
Our Story
Hi! I’m Carole Taylor, founder of Taylor Made Refills.
I started Taylor Made Refills in October of 2019, with my first products being made in the kitchen at home, in Kintore, Aberdeenshire.
Previously, I worked for a charity who ran a project called “Fishing for Litter” which operates in many harbours in the United Kingdom and across Europe. Their mission is to reduce marine litter by working with fishermen to remove plastic from the oceans caught in their nets. It was whilst doing this job I experienced first hand the impacts of our collective plastic use and other single use materials on the oceans and our planet, it was terrifying.
A few years earlier I had started to make eco friendly swaps, following a comment made by our Health Visitor who was visiting myself and our youngest son. She mentioned the smell of cleaning products in the house and it’s possible effects on his ongoing respiratory issues. It was then that I decided to look into making more traditional, homemade and natural cleaning products.
I started by making a kitchen cleaning spray made entirely of natural ingredients, and afterwards I tried my hand at making foaming hand wash, both of which I started selling to friends and family locally.
Thanks to the support of our returning customers and our local community, we were able to take on a handful of stockists in our area and we eventually outgrew our kitchen and garage. We moved to our first premises in nearby Kemnay in August of 2020. Later, we were able to make the move closer to home, to Kintore, in December 2020. This meant I was able to realise my dream of being able to work around our children and their schedules.
As time goes on we strive to be as carbon neutral as possible and we offset our carbon footprint each year. We are currently working on more concentrated products, reducing the size and weight of our products. All of our own product range is Vegan Society certified. We are always looking for more ways to reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle what we can to reduce our impact.
Our Values
Natural Ingredients
All of our products are handmade, plant-based, and biodegradable. We carefully research every supplier and ingredient to ensure they meet the highest ethical standards — always cruelty-free, kind to the environment, and vegan-friendly.
We never use harmful or toxic ingredients. That means no parabens, chlorine bleach, optical brighteners, thiazolinones, sulphites, methylisothiazolinone (CMIT), SLS, ALS, ALES, formaldehyde, or phosphates. Our products are also 100% palm oil free.
Ethical Packaging
All our packaging is Compostable, Biodegradable, Recycled or Recyclable. Where possible, we ship our retail orders in re-used cardboard boxes and filler material, donated by customers and businesses in our local community.
Our aim is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and our waterways and reuse and recycle packaging where possible.
Fully Circular Supply System
Our supply system is designed to be as circular as possible — from sourcing to disposal. We work with ethical suppliers who share our values, and we prioritise ingredients that are biodegradable, low-impact, and responsibly harvested. Our refill model encourages reuse, reduces single-use plastics, and keeps packaging in circulation. By closing the loop, we help customers reduce waste and make everyday cleaning more sustainable.
